Job Description

Masons will cut, dress and lay stone. This role should be proficient with both modern power tools and traditional hand tools. Masons can expect to work in all weather and with various materials, lift and carry heavy objects, and read and assess technical drawings. Responsibilities include texturing and polishing blocks of stone, installing dressed stone, mixing cement and mortar, and restoring old and damaged masonry works.


  • Maintaining tools and workspaces
  • Cutting, shaping and dressing materials
  • Lifting, carrying and placing prepared blocks
  • Reading and following technical drawings
  • Training apprentices
  • Mixing cement and mortar
  • Restoring old and worn masonry


  • Proven experience as mason
  • Hands-on experience in working with stone materials
  • Excellent understanding of masonry techniques and methods of installation and construction
  • Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools
  • Ability to read technical documents and drawings
  • Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times
  • Good knowledge of English
  • Good understanding of basic math
  • Good physical condition and endurance
  • High school diploma; successful completion of a masonry apprenticeship program is preferred
