Demo Day: A Community Celebration to Kick Off the Project
The project officially launched with an energetic Demo Day event, where community members, city leaders, and project partners came together to mark the start of construction.
Speakers included Mayor Ryan Sorenson, Weill Center Executive Director Jessica Bessler, members of the Weill Center Board of Directors, and Matt Quasius, President of Quasius Construction, who each reflected on the importance of preserving the Weill Center’s legacy while building for the future.
Media, stakeholders, and community supporters gathered to witness the ceremonial moment — and even joined in on the action by swinging sledgehammers to symbolically begin the demolition phase. The event captured the excitement, pride, and momentum surrounding this transformational project.

Phase One: Setting the Stage
With demolition underway, Phase One focuses on expanding and modernizing the Weill Center’s front-of-house spaces to create a more welcoming and accessible experience for guests. Planned updates include:
An expanded, reimagined lobby
ADA-accessible family restroom
Enhanced ticketing and concession areas
A stylish lobby balcony lounge
Elevator access to the mezzanine
Updated theater equipment and merchandise space
These updates will enhance the flow, comfort, and functionality of the facility — while maintaining the architectural integrity that makes the Weill Center so special.
Phase Two: Raising the Roof
Looking ahead, Phase Two will introduce an elevated rooftop lounge, outdoor patio, and intimate stage area — creating new opportunities for performances and community gatherings.
While the renovations add modern amenities, the historic theater itself will remain untouched, preserving its timeless beauty and the emotional connection it holds for generations of Sheboygan residents.
